Hello all just found this board and need some help. I have an 88 F 150 4x4 with the six cylinder. The truck only has 59k miles on it. Lately the truck has been mifiring on cylinder 6. I have changed the plugs, wires, rotor, cap. The plug is getting fire. It got me through a screwdriver, so I feel like it is getting plenty of fire to the cylinder. Anyone have any idea what could be going on here. I am hoping for something that is pretty easy to fix, but I am open to any ideas. If I have left anything out let me know.
Thanks for any help you can give.
If you know that the spark is not causing the problem then that leaves fuel (injector?), or a vacuum leak (hose tapped into that intake runner or intake gasket leak?).
The upper intake needs to come off to replace an injector. So if I didn't want to spend a $100 on a guess then you could remove 2 injectors, switch then and see if the problem followed the suspected bad injector.
It is held in place by the fuel rail, it will come out of the engine fairly easy, taking it out of the fuel rail is another matter, it is in there pretty tight. DO NOT DAMAGE THE O-RINGS, when you re-install the injector!!! and don't forget to release the fuel pressure before mess with the injectors.
