Katemcy Rocks ?

My son has a rock crawler type Jeep.(not a DD) Looks like we will haul it up to Mason ,on a trailer with the SD next weekend. This is a first for me, taking any advice. Plan is to tent camp.

I have not been out to Katemcy Rocks yet. Take lots of pictures and video.

Give me a heads up next time you go out. Maybe I can join you.

From what I've heard it's the best off-road park in Texas. One of these days i'll get my 72 F100 trail-rig built so I can go there.

I don't think my son really asked me and mom along for our experience and wisdom but we did have the dually and all the camping gear that they needed to pull it off. We borrowed a trailer that needed some welding (to pay the rent or borrow fee) so Friday was a thrash a thon to get our poop together. When we were finally ready to load the Jeep (about 10) son says "should I get fuel now" and damned if it did not break down on the way.

Minor problem, we met the rest of his gang of thugs around 6am in Boerne.
Here are some pics. I have a bunch more if there is interest.

these big boys were not in our group or tax bracket either.

We did indeed tent camp and it rained pretty good early Sunday while we were trying to sleep. We only got a few drops inside so we were real glad that it did not come while we were cookin.

When is their next event? I'm not a 4-wheeler (unless you count my Polaris Ranger), but I'd like to meet some of my fellow FTE folks. I've known the Kruse family all my life. I just live a few miles up the road from Katemcy. Looks like they've moved the crawling to Grit, actually. They lost the lease on the place in Katemcy where they used to do this.

I am just support crew for the kid so not up on all the history. Indeed it is held in Grit and I heard some stories of the old site. The old timer I spoke with said to keep an eye on the website for new dates as they had fewer hunters this year. Here is the link, nothing new on there yet.
