OK so I have only lifted one truck before and that was an f150 last year. I went with fabtec lift and it was a nice kit, rode smooth, etc. Sold the truck to get rid of the ecoboost.
However it seems like a different ball game with the HD trucks. IM sick of a stock truck and ready to lift it. But have no idea where to start. I like knowing what I want and the best to buy before I go to the shop and order the parts.
I want to to an 8" kit and fit 37s under there. I have a 2012 f250 super cab. it has the 6.2 and 4.30 locking rear end. I know im pushing it with 37s and only the 6.2, but this is going to be a novelty really. This is a business truck and I just want something a little different from the other guys. The only real "offroad" it will see are the beaches in NC. Which my little bmw x5 handles just fine so its not like Im purpose building this thing.
However ride comfort is important as I drive this a lot in the city, and the hampton roads area has the worst roads ever.
So suggestions? Im really interested in the sky jacker kit. But thats not set in stone.
Im sure there are other threads here that talk about the same thing so I apologize for a possible repost.
You can fit 37s with a 4" lift with the correct offset and maybe some slight trimming on a 2012. 37s seem to be the new 35s, everytime i go to a truck show my tires look stock
I'm sure on a newer truck you could pull of 37's easier. They are much bulkier looking not to mention the 6.7 has more grunt than the 6.0 does. I wouldn't run 37's on a 6.0 without re-gearing but on a 6.2 with 4.30's you might be alright.
I was thinking as well. I think thats an 8" but im not positive. Thats exactly how my truck looks (minus the lift) so its a nice visual basis. I would do 18s instead of 20s though.
8" lifts are huge on these new SD's as these trucks are already monsters. I have a 4" on mine and have 35.75" tires. My lift says that i can fit 37"s and i may try it my next round. I have a friend who owns a truck customization shop in my town and does all kinds of this stuff and he lifted his '12 6" on 37" Toyo MT's on 22" XD Revolvers. Truck looks great and is huge. At that point you have to start worrying about garage height, maybe even car wash height if you go through those, being able to get in and out of the truck, using the bed of the truck for ANYTHING. just my 2 cents!
