Transmission Quandry
Hello! I need some help sorting this out, so any help is appreciated!
The transmission on my truck is going. I have been looking at auto salvage yards for a tranny and I have been told that my truck needs an 4R75W. My truck's door sticker shows a TR = B and I know that should be 4R75E. I called two Ford dealerships and I was told that I needed an 4R75E. One dealership did tell me that the listing that he showed for my VIN indicated 4R75E/W. He thinks either will work in my 05 Lariat 150, 4x4 with a 5.4 V-8. Okay, is this true? I did find a 4R75E at one salvage yard, but it is for a 2006. Would this be a bolt-on to my 05? Date of manufacture for my truck is 3-05. The salvage yards get quite snippy with me when I tell them that my 05 needs an E and not a W and that is not what their systems say and that is that!
Any help would be greatly appreciated and if there is information that I did not include, let me know and I will add it.
Oh, one more thing, one salvage yard did tell me to look at some markings on the tranny. If they are not what he shows for the W, then call him with what I have and he will look them up. He is thinking that my tranny must have been swapped out already. Yeah, that is why the dealerships are telling me an E from my VIN! Help!
