CAN-BUS & Engine Swap

Hello everyone,
I am going to do an engine swap on a Ford van from gas to diesel. The donor vehicle is CAN-BUS equipped.

The swap involves gas to diesel with Ford Econoline Vans.

1997 Ford E350 V10 (Getting converted to a 6.0 diesel)

2008 E450 cutaway 6.0. (retired ambulance) (Donor vehicle)

I plan on moving the engine, trans, and all electrical including dash and front clip from the 2008 to the 1997 Econoline.

Will CAN-BUS create a problem for me in this swap?

I'm sure it will....the 6.0 required it. Unless when include the front clip... that MIGHT have all the connections you need so I guess I didn't help you at all with this except to bump it back to the top.

Have you tried posting this in the 6.0 forum?

I tried the 6.0 section on Thedieselstop but I haven't here.

From what I've read it's not a 6.0 thing, but rather a federal law that mandates all vehicles sold in the US are required to be CAN equipped by 2008.

I think we have more talent on the 6.0 forum here than the other place.....

If you moved ALL the electrical to the older vehicle, I don't see why it would be a problem. This would probably include the fuel tanks, rearend if the newer one requires a sensor that the older one doesn't have, exhaust system with all it's sensors, etc.
