Check Engine Light

I have a strange one. I hit a pothole hard in my '96 EB and the check engine light came on. I was not able to take it into the shop right away so I drove it for about a week with the indicator light on. I hit another pothole and the check engine light went off. When I stopped laughing about the fact that I fixed the truck by my poor driving skills I wondered what caused it. Is my problem solved? Anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

Check Engine Light

The computer should store the trouble code that caused the light to come for a certain number of on-off cycles (80?) If there aren't any stored codes, there isn't much you can do.
