I've been watching a bunch of the Andy Griffith show episodes on TV Land when I collapse in my chair at night. They must have had a 56 F-100 as one of their regular production vehicles. I've been noticing the same truck in a lot of different episodes. Currently watching "A medal for Opie" from 1962. The truck is in a bunch of scenes. I can't find any footage of the episodes.
Wonder if they still have any old Andy tv vehicles put away somewhere? Do they sell them routinely after a tv show is over? I have seen vehicles passing thru Mt Airy, NC but always felt they were clone reproductions.
There was a lot of really cool old cars and trucks on "Andy" over the years. One of my favorite episodes was when Aunt Bee bought that gorgeous black 55 Ford convertible to learn to drive in. They made it out to be a junker, but what a junker to have today.
There is also one episode where Barney bought a used black 53/54? car from an old lady. She and her cohorts were actually con-artists that turned back odometers and put saw dust in the tranny to make it shift OK for a short while. I don't know if that really works.....
There is a guy near the Stuart, VA area who claims to have the original truck (don't remember the exact model -T or A) that was used in "The Walton's". Last I saw it it was under cover with chickens roosting on the front fenders.
