2005 Expy subwoofer question
Found one at the pull a part junkyard for my 2005 in almost new shape
how do I know if BOTH the amp and the speaker need to be replaced since while I am in there I can grab the amp too
All the other speakers work except the subwoofer and I would like just to have to replace the actual subwoofer
thanks.....
I can get both for $20... I can tear out the moldings quickly in the junkyard Expy and not worry about it......plus I get to see what all I need to disassemble when I put the speaker/amp in in my Expy
not really worried about sound quality.....when the subwoofer worked the system sounded fine to me...not interested in an upgrade
just got back from the pull apart lot.....took about 15 min to get the subwoofer and Amp out..not too bad at all.. you will have to detach both pillar moldings and the top and bottom moldings on the hatch opening. Some of these do not have to be taken all the way off just enough to move out the interior piece over the subwoofer....also detach the very back seat belt on that side...screw it out from the attachment.....
the amp is pretty easy...4 screws and two plugs
the speaker has multiple screws holding it in the front and one big screw holding it in the back
the subwoofer enclosure has 3 bolts that hold it to the side of the interior...take those out and you can get to the back of the speaker
got it all put back in mine and wouldn't you know it looks like one of my kids spilled Coke in the back when they were sitting in the 3rd seat and it dripped down all over the AMP......I replaced both anyway
sounds great
just take your time.....there were a couple other pieces that made things easier if you move them.. you will need a star head to get the seat belt out on that side...it made things easier for me to take out part of the floor section in the back...two screws and it was out
