Id like to put a red led strip along my tailgate for a extra braking light and perhaps a few yellow running lights for when I tow.
Have any of you here used these LED strips? How are Rey holding up?
Several people have done this. They work fine.
If you are planning on the roll of LED lights available online or at autozone, take note that they dont stick very well for very long. I would get a product designed for it like the Recon kit.
I had an E-Bay "Line of Fire" LED tailgate strip on my 05 F-150 for 8 years and had no problems with it. No LEDs burnt out. I did attach it with screws because I don't trust the tape. I have a new one ordered for the F-250.
You could use something a bit more stout and permanent. There are LED stop/turn/tail bars out there (link below). Use two of these as you see fit. I have the OEM three ID light in the center as used on DRW trucks with two 4x1 marker lights (one on each side).
The light strips are very durable, I driven some extremely muddy roads subjecting these to some very harsh conditions, and between that and all the car washes afterwards I've had no problems what so ever. The thing that's great about these is that they can be cut to length and are flexible so they can be mounted on curved surfaces unlike the ones HeavyAssualt mentions. I also put some along the bottom of my tailgate, similar to one of these, that not only connects to the brake lights, it also hooks up to the turn signals and back-up lights.
