Warn multi-mount winch

I have a 9,000# Warn winch on a multi-mount system that I would like to install onto my truck. On my 2000 F250 I was able to use the Warn front receiver with no problem. However on my 2003 there is an extra brace under the bumper that will not allow the use of my Warn front receiver. Warn offers a front receiver for the newer bumpers, however, you have to eliminate the factory fog lights. I really like the fog lights on the new truck so I am hoping to get around this dilemma. I went to the Warn website and I looked at the Trans4mer brush guard and winch holder. I really like it but not the $1,100 price I was quoted from my local truck shops. I did some research and found that the winch receiver on the Trans4mer is sold seperately and just bolts into the brush guard. From what I can tell there is nothing that makes the Warn Trans4mer any stronger then any other brush guard. They all bolt into the frame via the tow hooks in the front. Now my question is, could I not get a different brush guard and then just drill holes in it to accomedate the Warn winch receiver, like the Trans4mer? I really don't use my winch that often and when I do I never come close the the 9,000# limit, but I still want to be able to have it in case I need it. The way I am looking at it is all the brush guards that I have seen the uprights (which is where the receiver bolts into) are made from around 1/8 plate, so I am thinking that they should all be pretty close strength wise. I had a Go Rhino brush guard on my 2000 and that thing was rock solid. Do I have an error in my thinking? Does anyone have any knowledge of how well this might work? Thanks for the help
