spring test
Is there a recommended procedure to test the leaf springs on a '94 4X2 F-150? After 170,000 mi I think they seem unreasonably soft. My dealer suggested adding a leaf but he didn't seem to have a basis for deciding when the springs were becoming fatigued. Which leaf is recommended for adding? It seems that there should be something other than trial and error to employ in the analysis. Any advice would be appreciated.

When it says your truck is a half ton, that doesn't mean it can carry that with ease, that means that is teh max weight that truck can carry. So if you put 1000 pounds in the back, the tires would hit the fenders!!
Also, unless your truck has been used for heavy towing, or alot of extreme off-roading, your leaf springs should be as good as new.
