So I just went out to the rig and all my fluid had dumped out of my radiator onto the street.
I found it was coming out of the little drain valve and after messing with it with a wrench and getting it all over me, I think it might be stripped or something.
Can you just blow these things out or what's the story? Should I pull it and replace it, or is there a better part to get? Any help would be great!
Its helpful to include more info on your truck or car----kinda hard to tell, just WAG's otherwise.
Assuming you have some sort of truck here's the drain I think you mention:
This is a plastic part most likely threaded into the radiators plastic bottom tank---if someone hasn't over tightened it recent its quite possible it has just cracked. The above photo shows mine had sheered off but thankfully it has provisions to fit an Allen wrench inside it.
NAPA or Ford should have the correct replacement part.
Thanks! And yeah, I left out the rig like a moron. I have a 73 F250, and it was the little drain petcock. I stripped the bolt, and then fluid went everywhere but we had a pan, so it wasn't too messy. So new fluid in. My mechanic that has been helping me with a lot of this stuff keeps telling me that I am going to be running into this stuff until I get her dialed(she's new to me, just on the road). 40 year old truck, so hopefully at some point I'll get her to where I can not worry so much. Yeah right. Anyways, thanks for the tips, JWA!
