I'm trying to install a new 8' plow on my 2002 F-150 w/ extended cab, short bed 4X4 w/ 5.4 V-8... I have a 3600 GVW front end and need a 4200 GVW to get the plow I want. Was told that getting bigger torsion bars would work but Ford discontinued them and can't find anything online. What can I do? Any ideas would help and thank you!
i put Gabriel HIJACKER Shocks on the front of my jeep, (air shocks) Onboard mini air compressor. I would hook up plow and flip switch to get 80 psi. When i unhooked plow. I flipped the valve in the cab to lower pressure back down to 15psi.
I recently put a 'sno-way" plow on my f150(sold jeep).. she is Untested at this point but If i need a bit more boost.(snowways are light so i might not) I will be doing the same and putting air shocks on it with another onboard mini compressor. it is a good way to get a little bit of temporary lift power and not suffer ride the rest of the year
Ok, Now you did it.. I was thinking, I just put new tires on the truck, Big beefy ones for snow and i scrub every once in a blue moon in the right circumstances.. I better check the plow again to make sure i am ok without the Hijackers. I aint got time for scrubs.. There is money to be made son. Had my jeep wrangler for 5 years 97. That thing paid for itself and parts 10x over from plowing..
Might you consider a sno-way? it is lighter and it takes a beating well.
