Right side done

Jacked up the rear of the cab to start on the rear mounts. With the back of the cab perpendicular to the frame I have about 1 1/2" clearance over the frame rail. Does this sound right? With the worn out rear mouting arms the cab was sitting on the frame so I have no reference.

Im not sure if its the angle but it looks like too much of a gap to me. On my cab with new rear mount bushings, there is a lot less gap. I dont have a measurement, hopefully someone with their cab on their frame can get a measurement.

Looks like 1 1/4" to the pinch weld area, 1 1/2" to the body line. I am using 1/4" thick rubber body mounting pads up front so if the cab were sitting right on the frame it would be 1/4" lower.

I agree with Nick, mine is 3/4" at best (with recent stock arms). No good pics, sorry.

Quick update, been busy with work and other stuff, spring has finally reached NY and with that comes other stuff to do.
Highlight of yesterday was my Miller plasma cutter decided to self destruct, not a good thing to happen in the middle of a build. Looking into getting the control board repaired, new board is almost as much as a new machine!
Very dissapointed in Miller, my Lincoln welders have not missed a beat.

Anyway with the rocker panel level to the running board mounts this is my new measurement, looks good so I will shoot for that final position.

Drivers side mount done. I was going to bolt through the rear crossmember but grabbed these off my parts S10 instead. Little cutting and welding and they fit fine.

Thats it for now!
Who has plasma cutter recommendations? Making the frame side of the body mount is going to suck without one.

Yep not a good day, but I have the Miller control board packed up and ready to ship out to see if it can be fixed. I got spoiled having a plasma cutter around, cutoff wheels work fine just end up using a lot of them with the 1/8" and thicker material..so in the mean time I ordered up a new Hypertherm powermax 30xp, it will cut 1/2" plate no problem so should be a beast of a machine.
The miller is only 4 years old, so as long as the board can be fixed I will put it back together and sell it. I think the board shorted out from all the grinding dust and general shop grit that was on the board, I couldnt believe how dirty it was when I opened it up. So for those who have em I would keep your plasma covered and blow it out with compressed air once in awhile.
As soon as I get the new plasma I will make up the frame sides of the rear body mounts and the cab gets chopped shortly after that.

Hopefully your Hypertherm Powermax works out good for you, No reason why it should not.... and I guess with all the Dust through the years can short out your board.... I hope they can fix it for you for a RESALE.... it's Amazing when you have it you don't realize how necessary it is but when it's gone it makes you feel like

Just checking in, no updates because I havent been working on the truck! Nice weather is here so been hitting swap meets and working on other smaller projects. Been driving my 47 caddy and needed to notch the dash and raise up the steering column a bit, was too low to be comfortable. Much better now.

Next is to hook up my ipod to an amp and get some tunes in the thing.

Hypertherm plasma cutter arrived, awesome tool. Will be back on the truck to get some stuff done next week and maybe an update.

Thanks, with the weather nice now I have been spending time hitting the swap meets and local car shows, my daughter has been waiting all winter to get to go to them with the Caddy and the Buick.
Got some work done yesterday and today, welded up the holes in the dash that were not going to be used and moved the headlight switch hole to the far left. Mounted a plate on the left side for an S10 ebrake pedal and welded up the zillion unneeded holes in the firewall.
Cab leaves tomorrow for my buddies house for final bodywork and a 2 1/2" to chop. In the mean time I will finish up the chassis and get it blown apart for paint.
Big question has been where to mount the battery, no clue where I am going to mount it yet.

Hey Dave,
What color are you going with? That's a sense of accomplishment - just getting the cab done is a ton of work. Why are you painting this one while you left the Buick with patina?

Nice that the weather has finally turned up there in New York.
