vacuum leak?!?
A while back my brake light ("idiot light") started coming on, shortly after my vacuum pump failed. I replaced vacuum pump and brake light still comes on. I checked vacuum, ~17in. This is really getting annoying, it cancels my cruise control when light comes on. Any thoughts? Thanks.

17 inches isn't enough... should be about 20-25 to my understanding. Depending where you bought the pump from, if it's new or a reman, some don't come with oil, others have to be maintained and drained & refilled once a yr., break/pinhole in one of the vacuum line?... so yes vacuum leak is possible
time to get a vacuum tester and start checking things I mentioned above
