Happy as a hot hog in cool mud. Bought a 04 Ford
I bought a 04 Ford Heritage truck with only 40K miles on it. $7400 out the door. 4.2L reg cab, long bed, stick shift, I think posi traction, A/C and a radio with cassette.
I am a very happy camper with this truck!!! I am happy because:
1) It is a solid truck IMHO
2) Ford makes an excellent product
3) This truck will haul a lot of wood in the back with the long bed
4) It rides so nice. Like floating down the road.
5) Seats are comfy
6) It still feels like I am driving a truck
7) I spent less than some guys spend on their 4 wheelers
8) The darn thing can't lose to much more value like a $50K truck can
9) It has plenty of TQ for what I need it to do
10) A lot of Ford trucks out there
11) relatively inexpensive to fix when compared to imports
12) Relatively easy to work on and to get to things
13) It hauled my 17ft double axle steel trailer with a car on it with ease through the mountains of Upstate NY at 70 mph
14) It will haul a lot of wood in the long bed
15) A LOT OF VALUE FOR MY HARD EARNED MONEY
16) I needed a truck for hauling so many things
Since I got it I have put a hitch on it and wired up a brake controller myself. I changed the oil and air filter when I first got it. It needed an air filter (it was dirty) and someone tried to take the oil filter off but was unsuccessful because when I crawled under the truck I saw the oil filter was dented. Truck runs fine.
Side note: I have owned two chevys before this Ford (a 305 reg cab long bed and a Z71 5.3L reg cab short bed with 4.10 rear end) and both were fine trucks but somehow I am looking forward to getting to know this truck. I've put about 2000 miles on it already. I think I avoided the huge payment ball and chain and I've got a nice truck that I'm very happy with.
