Isn't this a pretty rare bird? It's a 78 long bed step side. Looks bad and is way over priced, but it is unusual. I don't know when I can remember seeing one like this.
I'm just curious about how many of this bed configuration were made. I don't remember seeing those in a Ford. Back in the 70s, long bed stepside 3/4 ton Chevies were pretty common, or at least not too rare in my neck of the woods. I just don't remember seeing a long bed step side ford.
I have personally seen three, maybe four in this area. I am not sure if the beds were an aftermarket add on or factory fresh. One in particular looks vastly different from the others I have seen, it has round wheel flares.
A long-bed flareside was available from the factory, but they are quite rare. However, not rare enough to warrant $5k for what is probably an $800 truck in my area.

8' Flaresides are scarce because most were sold to the US Gov't, to city/state gov't agency's and as fleet vehicles. So, most have vanished...as they were driven into the ground.
6 1/2' & 8' Flaresides were very difficult to sell new and used, because most people wanted Stylesides. Dealers hated to take them in trade.
Dealer I worked for had a 1973 F100 6 1/2' Flareside on the used car lot for THREE years before it sold.
8' Flareside bed same: 1957/79 F100/250 & 1975/79 F150 // 1957/72 F350's came with the 9' Express Flareside bed.
