So I got the codes. After initially setup flashes I get these..
332,556,332,556
556 is fuel pump circuit failure
332 is EGR valve opening not detected.
Why does it repeat codes?
Fuel pump circuit? Can't figure what that is. Truck runs fine.
EGR valve opening not detected... I guess that's just a bad EGR valve. Wonder if that will cure my random stalling.

There are 2 banks of memory, one called constant memory which indicate problems the computer sees right now, and stored codes which represent problems that have existed for some time. Most times these 2 banks are identical but not always.

That's the fuel pump monitor, on dual tank trucks this is common as the signal gets interrupted when switching tanks so it's safe to ignore.

Could just be a broken vacuum line between the valve and control solenoid. There should not be any vacuum on this line at idle but if you attach a piece of flexible hose to the vacuum tree with the engine idling, and breifly attach the open end to the vacuum nipple on the EGR valve the engine should stumble but recover if you remove vacuum. This confirms the valve is opening and the passage is not blocked, so the problem is either a broken vacuum line or a bad EGR control solenoid which is the one facing the upper intake over near the coil.
Seriously though. Where is the DLC plug or the EEC or the OBD or what is the deal with 96 year? Is it the transition year when everything is impossible to locate due to the fact that is has bits and pieces of 95 96 97 98 model? I have watched all the YouTube BS and found nothing on 1996 gas motors. Especially f350. Just want to know which sensor or wire or module I need to direct my attention to. Thanks.

Any idea what page? Or if a '96 is OBD I with the paper clip to test, or OBD II with a port in the cab?
I went through that manual twice and couldn't find it.....
well there's 10 minutes of my life I wont get back, 399 pages of useless info, for OBD I or OBD II question, pages 374 and 375, tell how to warm up OBD II for inspection
