So I need new tires, and figured while I'm at id see what I could find as far as used wheels go. I found a set of 17" that I like pretty well that to the best of my knowledge will fit great (bolt pattern, back spacing, and width). However, the hole in the center of the wheel is 4.25 inches in diameter, where my current ones are 3.5", ( I have a 4x4 with manual hubs). As far as mounting these I know this won't be a problem, but I want them to look good as well as function properly. Any ideas on center caps? Would it be worthwhile to pursue this route?
I upgraded to 17s earlier this year, and the center hole is the same size. Not a problem, because the wheels are lug centric anyway.
I got center caps with my wheels, but they need replacing with something that's not Taiwan krome that rusts at the first rainstorm. Summit Racing has literally hundreds of caps to choose from, and you can enter search terms by material you want, diameter, length, and manufacturer. I think I'm going to go with stainless.
I'm running 265/70/17s, which are roughly equal to a 32" tire. They're also readily available for a lower price than most 32" 15s. I found mine used, they're Goodyear Wrangler HPs that were originally on a Ram 1500. Almost new, I paid 120 for the set. No rubbing or anything, but the rear of my CC is 3" higher than stock, and I've got Moog CC844 springs in the front, which is about a 1.5 inch lift.
