OT:Hemmings MN: Concours d'Eleganze
Hemings holds it's concours event at the Saratoga Auto Museum, Saratoga Springs, NY. they have the usual Full Classic class, but also have a variety of collector classes, vettes, class of '58, street hemi's, early ford v8, BMW's, you get the idea. the most interesting class of cars was the 1950's fiberglass bodied cars. since i don't know how get text on the pics when i put pics in through "manage your attachments" i'll put them here. some highlights: first pic is a lot full of enclosed trailers for bring these queens into town. Chrysler T&C convertible, Marmon, Stutz boat tail speedster, Cord, Chevy UTE, Ford Woodie Wagon, Hupmobile with 3 piece windshield, nice 58 Chevy 1950's fiberglass bodies cars. if you would like more info about any of the cars, i have the program with the names of each car. enjoy

Those kinds of cars are just a class of their own! What stunning designs on the '30's luxo-barges, I just can't imagine seeing cars like that on the street. When I was 16 I passed on a chance to buy a Cord for $500, kicking myself ever since. Thanks for posting, did you drive the truck up there?

i normally would have driven the f1 to the show, but it's 25mi. each way and i'm trying to keep the mileage down until neil can retorque the heads (hopefully this week). we actually drove it to a cruise in 3 miles down the road to an october (september) fest on saturday. the stutz boat tail speedster had a huge straight 8 DOHC 318 CI in it, think i'll read up on it. one guy with a street hemi had the build sheet. the 426 hemi was an additional $800 bucks, good return on investment after you pay for the gas. in the full classics there were some nice cadillacs, lincolns, pierce arrows, etc.

it was helpful that the car descriptions had the owner's name on them and the owners had distinctive badges with their names on, i talked to a few, very nice people. if you like looking at pics, here's 95 or so from a local site that lists car shows and pics from the shows. enjoy. https://plus.google.com/photos/11210...86085753556064
