I have a 2003 duallie,6.0L,122K
When putting in new front brakes today I noticed a large wet spot on the front of the tranny, so I followed it up to the drivers side head. It appears to go higher than where the head bolts to the block. Could the turbo be leaking? If so is this a common problem? and what on there could the leak be?
thanks
Anything leaking from up high goes into the valley and down the back for the block. Turbo feed and drain, ICP, IPR, oil cooler cover, the oil filter and secondary fuel filter, just pretty much everything on top leaks down the back. I've never seen a dry 6.0L valley, just because there's so much on there to leak.
You can pull the hot side CAC ooff the turbo and get a decent look at the front of the turbo pedestal. If that's dry, it's probably the turbo drain or the HPO components. If it's wet, pull the intake horn and cold CAC, and see if any of the sensors on the oil cooler cover are leaking, or if oil is seeping out of the bottom of the oil filter housing.
Or, if no oil is actually hitting the ground, you aren't losing oil and you don't have crazy fuel dilution with no oil growth, just call it good and leave it. I've never seen a completely oil-free 6.0L.
