High EGT after new Powermax Turbo and Wicked Wheel Gen II

It's so cold now that my temps are not rising as fast. If I recall I was getting temps similar to that before I installed the tune. I think I'm at around 650-900 on the highway unloaded with the SRL+. The problem I have is that I don't want to keep the throttle WO too long as I don't really want to get a ticket doing 90+ mph. It makes it hard to see where my EGTs max out. Once I get some trailer time that will tell. I travel to CO in the summer towing a 10K lb TT through the mountains. Unfortunately I won't be able to get the trailer hooked up until spring.

I ran the stock Pmax, later added the ported manifold, then added the single plane compressor wheel. The stock Pmax did had the low end issues most talk about around the boards. The ported manifold took care of that low end lag EASILY. Then single plane was an even better improvement over the stock wheel.
I think the "weight" difference in stock to billet has very little to gain. I think the single blade design is the bigger design improvement over the stepped wheel. Interesting for me was the increase in EBP when going to the single plane wheel. Using the stock Pmax with the ported manifold I was seeing a 1.5-1.7:1 ratio. Now with the single plane Pmax and ported manifold I see a higher 1.8-2.0:1 ratio BUT the spool is SO much better. At higher RPMs and speeds the ratio is much closer so it's not a concern.

I got the compressor wheel from Barder Turbo Service - HOME . It's pretty much the same wheel you can find being sold everywhere.

Yea I ran stock Powermax with stock wheel for a year with just ECM tune. This year I did FCIM tune, wheel, Intercooler, radiator, water pump. Bullet proof oil cooler at once. Seems it's either the tuning or wheel. It doesn't spool any slow er than it did, but I was hoping for quicker spool and lower EGTs. Not sure how KEM tunes FCIM compared to others I've read about such as Atlas 40, 80, etc. Mike at KEM is a good guy. Once the weather is nicer and the snow melts do I can get into the throttle I will data log and see what he thinks. Notices today when I switch on 4x4 only my defroster works. Once I go back to 2x4 it works fine. Always something. As a note Mike did say I would be hotter and smokier with FCIM tuning. Was hoping wheel and Intercooler would off set it. Is the wicked wheel 2 a dual pane wheel? I added it last minute. Should have done more research.

I have the 8K tow and unlimited tow tunes by by Matt at Gearhead but it will have to wait until spring. I did tow a bit on mostly flat ground with no EGT issues. Going up a 9 mile mountain pass will be the test!

Loaded my tow tune from KEM today. I think I like it better. Noticeable more power with FCIM tuned. Not quite as hot. Running 800-1000 around town. When in 5th and converter locks still can get to 1200. Alarm went off once at 1250. If it would unlock or downshift RPMs would stay up. I think I could tow with it. I never stay in it. Even on a steep grade if RPMs are up I think it will work. When the snow melts I will data log and see what KEM thinks of wheel etc. MpGs are down quite a bit. Only getting 11-12 around town. Used to be 13-14. Oh well, didn't buy it or mod it for fuel mileage.

Resurrecting an old thread to see if there was a resolution to the high Egt problem. Towing on a trip an 11k TT my egt's were hitting 1100 to 1200 just going up hills which to me is way too high. Is there a off the shelf tuner I could get or is a custom tune I need. I have stock head bolts and don't plan on studding anytime soon if I don't have to.
