Just want to say hello. I will most likely be in here often now that I have purchased a 65 F100 Stepside with a 6 cylinder, manual shift (3 on the tree). I've seen some really great info in here. Will get photos up soon.
Welcome, and congrats on the purchase but don't be upset if someone corrects you on calling it a "step side" you'll see what Im talking about. I call mine a step side too.

The knowledge on this forum is very valuable and will save you a lot of money and reduce your mistakes. If it has been done to a truck, it has most likely been seen by people on this forum and of course, will be greatly criticized. Just bear with the old codger's screwed up opinions, their arthritis somethimes acts up seveal times a day.
Some guys have more money than sense and some are jury rigging just to get by. There is room for all, just don't take the comments too personal.
Try to avoid getting into a knowledge argument with some people as they may be wrong but can not admit it, regardless of how wrong they are, they are entitled to their screwed up opinions and ignorance. Remember, you can not drag someone up the ladder of knowledtge if they are fighting your every rung of the way.
State your truck's year, model, engine, etc. when asking questions and you will get better answers.
You may as well buy a service manual or you will be driving yourself crazy with posting questions.
Of course, all the above is my (stellar always correct opinion). I hope you see the humor and truth in this reply.
I learn something new here every week or so, like ND pointed out..... the "step side" is a cheby, the Ford "flairside" gets its name due to the top of the bed flairs out. I always thought it was because the fenders flaired out.
