always got a Ford
Have had an 88 F350 for years, got it to tow my old 77 25' SeaRay Sundancer; 460, 5 spd, dually does the job nicely plus it is very nice to have that full ton capability.
Latest acquisition is a 73 F611 flatbed with a 45' SkyWorker bucket lift. This is my current project so will be spending a lot of time in the 73-79 big truck section snooping around before launching into noob questions. It is out of registration and the old chicken-egg rule applies: cannot get CA title w/o registration and they want over $2k for that. Oh well, will deal with that later and just use it on my property for a while. Do not want to sink too much into it, but got it for free and all systems work.
F611 has leaky carb (NAPA has the kit, local place wants $250 to rebuild it ... will not look as clean and sparkly as from the pros, but I have done them before).
F611 has leaky brake master cylinder (have some frozen up connections so have not removed it yet to see numbers and check on how to deal with it). Possibly the missing cover may be the big challenge.
Enough intro, will wander over to the 73-79 big truck section and snoop before asking specific questions.
Looks like a good place.
Thanks for being there.
