The rod question???
I'm thinking of putting a 312 crank in my 292. When I built my chevy 383 I used 400 crank and the longer 350 rods. This helped to eliminate cylinder wear so the rod wasn't putting excessive force on the piston. My pistons had the wrist pin relacated. my machinist said he did the same thing by surfacing a turbo piston to get the right deck hight. The longer stroke 312 may not have a longer rod. I want to know before i go buy a new crank. Anyone with rod lengths please let me know. Thanks Kurt y-blocks rule!
