Does anybody have pictures and listings of dealers that might have the hinges? Mine are missing, and I can't find any online.
Also, what is the best way to go about removing paint on these toppers? I don't want to take something like a sanding disk or a wire brush to it because I don't want to ruin the textured finish it came with. I suppose I could always paint over the existing..

All the parts are obsolete, very few (if any) available NOS from obsolete parts vendors/FoMoCo Dealers.
Pickup Box Covers (aka toppers aka camper shells) came from FoMoCo in white, the accent paint was added by the dealers.
Numbers shown in the following illustrations are basic part numbers only. The parts catalog's text section is required to get the complete part number.
Genuine Ford pickup box covers (actually made by Open Road) have compass ornaments (D3TZ-99517A56-A) on both sides.
1) D3TZ-9942900-A .. Pickup Box Cover Liftgate Hinge / Obsolete ~ No FoMoCo Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

The hinge(s) that hold the lift gate on. I see from the pictures that it looks like a simple piano hinge. If that's the case, I can probably come up with something that will work.

If you do, let me know. I might be interested in buying.

What exactly are these toppers made out of? I'm looking into having some damage repaired, but I need to know what its made out of before I take it somewhere. It's not fiberglass strand, at least as far as I can tell...
I glanced at mine the other day and I agree that a piano hinge is a good substitute. Try to find a real heavy duty one...much heavier than hardware store style. I'm guessing each interlocking section to be about 3/4 going from memory.
I could take pics and get you some measurements if you like.
