what hose goes here?

My dads 01 4x4 v10 has a hose or something that rotted away on both sides. Whats it for?

That looks like the vacuum connection for the auto-locking hubs. There should be a nipple on the top of the hub for a hose to connect to. If you are using manual-only hubs, you should plug that connection.

I thought so too but a few days ago I used 4x4 and it engaged automatically just fine.

Yep. Runs up to a T connection on the vacuum canister, if you have manual locking hubs and it's off it should be plugged somewhere up by the canister.

If your hubs are in the locked position, 4x4 will work just fine.

The markings are worn off the stock hubs how can I tell if they're locked or not

Is clockwise locked?

i'l have to look in my owners manual.

keep turning them untill you can freely spin the front drive shaft, then you know the front hubs are free.
