braking blues
So I got a mechanical aquatince over to do a insurance inspection on the truck. You know so you can insure it so you can plate it and then drive.
Well I wait and wait. Here comes the mechanic and he looks at my truck.
The first thing he askes is "Have you had it weighed yet?"
I say no and show him the gvw plate in the glove box
He then said "you know I can't pass your truck I don't think your brakes are big enuff to stop your truck"
So I ask all of you how big do the brakes have to be. I have a mII front end with the mII brakes but the mII is a heaver vechile I am sure of it. Because it is sure a grunt to push my mustang out of the garage to push the truck in.
Any way I still can not drive and thank you for letting me vent.
I know nothing about the legal requirements for getting your truck on the road in Canada and I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I have to agree with the mechanic that Mustang II brakes just aren't heavy enough for a truck. The little nine inch rotors were only marginal in the original Mustang. I've seen the small rotors used in light cars like T-buckets, Model A's, or Anglias, but you need 10-11 inch rotors for a truck. There are lots of brake kits in the aftermarket for Mustang II suspensions. If it were my truck, I'd be looking at some of them.
