There's a slight possibility of selling my current truck. Not because of the V10 but I may need something more work oriented. When looking at all the sites, KBB, Edmunds, NADA, the private party very good ranges from $22k-$28k. Sheesh. Current ride,
2008 F350 XLT Crew Cab SHORT BED Dually 4x4 ~45k miles.
Short bed duallies aren't exactly "in demand". I love my truck and would probably cry if sold but it may be a necessary evil.
of any vehicle is what both the seller and purchaser agree to. No more, no less. That's why you're seeing this large window - which allows for many variables.
people really like the short bed duallys, but sad to say the v10 is probably whats bringing it down. someone will buy it though, just will take a little more time. it was hard to sell my 5.4...everyone kept calling asking if it was a 7.3

Not 100% selling yet. Absolutely love the truck and would rather not sell. Got a smoking deal on it and that is the only reason to sell. I can make a good deal of money off a sale (in that entire price range) to use for other needs and then buy a work oriented truck such as a dump and end up ahead even with purchasing another used truck.
My concerns though are that I got the V10 truck with 24k on it sp I know it well and what has been done. Purchasing another used truck, you just never know, especially a work oriented vehicle. I may just put it up for sale after the fall cleanup season just to see.
my local choices were typically diesel, AND frequently 4X4 and lifted - all of which I declined. Short/long bed, single/duallies - didn't matter much to me.
I eventually found pretty near what I wanted, an 02 V10 (my preferred engine) extended cab (also preferred for the dogs) and 2wd. It was in decent shape, good looking, but an older base model - I'd have preferred newer (05-07) and a little bit dressed up/ XLT. But it was priced right ($5000) and now it's sitting in my yard.
Price it high on Craigslist and see if you get any bites.
My 2000 (w/ the V10) sold the same day (if not the day after) I put it on CL. I didn't undercut myself either, got a good price for it. I was not prepared at all for it to go that fast, no time to rip out my stereo or anything...

Matt,
Thats my plan. I still actually need the truck until mid November but I'll list it after that. I won't sell it unless I'm gonna really make some dough on it. That's the only way it'll go. Otherwise there is ZERO reason to sell.
Well besides the usual craigslist scammers I haven't had many hits on my truck. I'm sure its somewhat the price but I'm also not hurting to sell. So I decided what the heck and am giving my local Ford dealer a chance to shoot me an offer I can refuse tomorrow. At least if it something reasonable I know they'll have the money to pay for it......
From my personal experience, take whatever KBB (or any other site says) and subtract a couple thousand. Thatll get ya in the ballpark...
I tried selling my 94 F-350, CCLB dually, 7.3L IDIT and didn't get hardly any interest at all... Dropped the price $1500 below KBB value and still didn't get a thing. And diesels are the "thing to have" right now. Being a V10 and notoriously poor fuel mileage will make "most" people turn up their noses. But at the same time, when I went looking to trade off the ol IDI, I was looking specifically for a V10. It all boils down to whether you find the right person or not

I'm pretty confident my truck will be in my driveway for the next few years to come. I know I'm asking way too much for it as I'm not in a hurry to sell. Winter is coming and it'll be sitting pretty in my garage or driveway for the duration as I don't drive it in the salty roads around here. So either it sits or maybe it sells. I just wanted to see what's out there buyer wise as I'm really "right side up" with this truck and could have a significant gain by selling it. KBB numbers were astronomically wrong and my bank recently valued it at $25,500 (refinanced at 1%) more or less for insurance reasons but that seemed more logical than the $30,000 KBB had it at.
From what you've said, Id keep it if I were you lol. Don't get me wrong, if someone came along and asked if Id sell my truck for what I bought it for (or more) itd go on down the road lol. Your definitely in the right frame of mind though: if it sells, it sells. If it don't, it don't!
Not to change subjects, but I didn't realize they made short bed duallies in 08. Im a fan!

Truthfully when I looked at the value vs owed my thoughts went to "Hey that could pay off a lot of things!" And I can always get another truck. But only if it's a good deal for me, that's it. There is no desperation here.....yet And if I could keep this truck for the foreseeable future (10+ years) that would be great. Even in 10 years its possible to not even eclipse 100,000 miles.
Got back from the local Ford dealer this morning and to my surprise they made a decent offer on the truck. They offered $23,000 which is only $2-3k off of NADA. Now I just need to decide what to do...... Heart says keep it, brain says go sell it. Decisions, decisions, decisions..... At least I feel I am in the right ball park with my $26,000 starting price on my local ads. I truly was set up to walk out of the dealer laughing my tail off but now I'm stumped.
"They offered $23,000" was that a cash offer ... you give them the title and walk away $23K richer? Or was that their credit offer towards something they were showing you?
There really is a difference in these two scenarios.

So what 'cha gonna do?
$23,000 I walk away. I won't make $23k on the sale.
