Yup, covered a lot of ground today. The passenger side, aside from gloss paint, is just about all done to the back wheels. Going to tackle the driver's side tomorrow so I can get it down to just the rear axle area.
On the truck, it's because I painted them lol. The Expy, I am a pleasantly surprised it is where it is - this is Pennsylvania after all and stuff happens. My Explorer wasn't as fortunate.
Big weekend. Got a TON completed on the chassis - very happy with myself. I've really gone to school on preparing a frame for paint and plan to apply those lessons over the winter on the pickup also to get it where I want it to be. Here's a few random progress shots to wrap up the weekend:
Yeah, they are. I thought I saw something there during the summer, but brushed that off thinking it was my imagination. So, gotta give some thought to what I want to do there.
Thanks - it's cleaning up well. Just have to do the rear of the frame now. Been busting hump to get it done so that I don't have to worry about it going into winter. Then I can work in some of the other projects I have in mind.
It amazes me how much cleaning up in the undercarriage improves the look of a vehicle. I drove the Expy last night and amazed someone when I told them it has 168k on it - they pegged it for much less given what they could see of the underneath.
Milestone #1 - Frame completely encapsulated and primed. Still have to lay some gloss black, but I decided today was for other things...like rest and drinking beer.
Some random shots from yesterday - got too cold to do much with the doors open but we got it done.
This cold weather is cramping my style a little, but hopefully this weekend I will finish the gloss work.
Next up paint-wise is to do some varied finish and perhaps splashes of color around some visible areas. Then we elevate. I am looking at something along these lines as a new tire too:
I got lazy and didn't finish painting this weekend. I worked on the truck instead.
But the big news is that it goes for "surgery" on Thursday on the motor. Time to replace those broken manifold bolts. I'm not getting dirty on this one though - I found a shop that seems to be pretty reputable, and he's going to do the bolts, and a few other things . He admits it might take a day or two to work through it, but it'll be worth it when it's finished.
