When should I replace the timing chain?? I have alittle over 115,000.
And is the 4.2L bellhousing bolt pattern the same as the 3.8L.
The reason I'm asking is, I've heard the 4.2L 5-speed is not such a good tranny. I have a couple T-5s out of the 5.0L mustang, I was thinking if the tranny goes I'll put one of these in.
Thanks Chad.
Timing chains in newer Fords are roller chains and it is very rare for them to jump. They can be falling off loose and still wont jump.
I dont think I'd worry about it.
The bellhousing bolt pattern should be the same between the 4.2 and 3.8.
The 5 speed in your truck really isnt that bad and will probably last a long time.
