A buddy of mine is building a 460 to put in his 79 project truck. He wants it to make lots and lots and lots of torque.
Right now he's going with a cam,headers,and a 4bbl.
Does anyone know anything else he could do to it to make it put out more torque???
He keeps telling me the more the better!
Thanks for any help!
Would anyone happen to know how high of compression u could run in a 460 on 93 octane gas???
I know some folks were saying they can't run their 460's on pump gas cause their compression is high.
Thanks for the help!
I'm running right at 10:1 on 93 and that is pushing it. Everything has to be right to prevent detonation. I wouldn't go any higher with iron heads. 9.5:1 would be more comfortable, but 10:1 is possible with the right tune.
78 f-150 4x4, I am running 10.5:1 CR on my 494 stroker, thats with flat tops with edelbrock performer rpm heads 95cc chambers, comp cams 270h magnum with a holley 800cfm dbl pumper, I add a little c12 every once in awhile, but I do fine in 100 degree weather with 93 octane fuel. Note that this is not my daily driver
