i have an 88 f-150 a/t tilt steering. my actuator that connects to the ignition rod broke and i can't get the new peice in because of the tilt steering assembly is in my way. how do i get the tilt steering assembly off. i see the 2 threaded pins that it pivots on. what do i need to do?
I did this on a 77 that had the same problem, no guarantee here but worth looking at. For the pins I found a 1/4 inch drive socket that was large enough to fit over the pins in the wrist of the column. You need to make sure the socket has a large enough diameter that the pin can be drawn up into the socket. I then took a screw that would thread into the pins and an appropriate washer to keep the screw from getting pulled into the socket. This made a good make shift puller for the pins worked pretty good. On my 77 there were 2 bolts (I think) that held the rest of the joint to the head of the column.
Let me know how this works. May just get you close enough to figure out something else if this doesn't work for you.

P.S. Welcome to the sight. If this doesn't help then I'm sure there are any number of people that can chime in after this.
