Transfer Case?

I have a rear driveline vibration, after replacing the u-joints and still vibrating. I noticed I can move the transfer case 1/2" in all directions! Upon further inspection I noticed the adaptor between the transmission is cracked in a few places! Question is that part in front of the transfer case and behind the transmission called an adapter plate?

Thanks for the answer, has anybody changed it out? looks like drive shafts/transfer case then adapter plate. Does the shaft from the transmission go directly into the transfer case? Gasket on the transmission & new transmission mount. It looks like there is a lot of weight hanging past the last mount! Like the transfer case & adapter/extension housing!

I've pulled a few off other vehicles before. Are you leaking trans fluid from there or is it not cracked all the way through? I can't remember if that's a wet extension housing or not. Once you pull the drive shafts and transfer case, the extension housing should unbolt and slip off. There may be gaskets or o-rings.

It's gonna weigh about as much as a stick shift trans. A trans jack and you'll be fine.

The output shaft of trans slips right into the input of transfer case. 1 or 2 dowel pins help line up transfer case to trans. I dont know if anything has to come off the output shaft to get the extension housing off. Used to have to pull speedo gears off some trucks. I dont know on the EX.

My transmission guy said that a bad u-joint may have caused the adapter to break. I did just replace the back u joint with a OEM spicer (that i now think are the best). Im having the trasmission guy replace it labor only on friday. Thank you FTE forum! for the tousley discount, parts are less than $200.00
