...well... went on a mission to find the "low flow egr" error cause.. ..started at the egr valve itself on my 96 f150.. ..now i've got an egr valve .. and half the damn tube it was attached to. the flex part broke right off after i undid the two bolts holding the valve. now what???? the parts store says they can't get it and i'm not sure it would be available anyway.. ..looks to me you would somehow have to crimp it around the straight pipe that comes from the manifolds.. but that straight pipe runs right down thru the heart of the whole engine.. i'd have to take everything off to get to it..
so.. ..after much cusing and throwing of wrenches i noticed that the flex part has pretty good soot and deposit on the outside.. ..i hope it had already been broken and this was where the "low flow" error came from. ..if not. anyone got any suggestions?
any suggestions about fixing what's broke first?? it won't run at all...
dealer has replacement tube.also you can pick-up a air injection tube repair kit and splice the tube together. I don't know why engine won't run, unless the egr is stuck open. if not only exhaust noise . try that and good luck!
let me guess tho.. ..i've got to take the whole damn intake off? i'm not sure about this.. ..but it ran fine when the valve was in. why w/ it not being there at all suddenly cause this?
i was going to let a garage do this, but I was already greased up from changing a very leaky fan clutch, so I figured: what the hey..
No,egr valve should be closed when no vacuum is applied.clean egr ports(make sure it seated or closed) and check the port in the manifold so it is clear and open.I believe it is if the engine won't run .good luck.
