efi or carb?

first to give alittle background on why i'm asking this question. i have a 1971 460 which i had originally bought to put into my 1984 f150. now i am getting a 1988 f250. naturally i'm going to put the bigger engine in the bigger truck. my only delima now is should i convert it to fuel injection or not. i know i can bolt the heads off of a 1988 efi 460 onto the my '71 block. i guess my biggest question is the conversion worth the time and effort it will take to get the late model heads and all the necessary parts to get this engine to work in my truck with efi. also will the mass air stuff off of a mustang bolt onto the 460 intake, and how much would it cost to have the mass air re-calibrated to work with the 460?
thanks
LR

If you have the wiring from the later model truck then the conversion is not has hard. You will have to make sure you have a PCM that is calibrated and programmed for use with a 460CI engine. The mass air (Plenum etc) from a mustang will probably not work. If you have to do all the wiring from scratch is sounds like a big job

I'm pretty sure the 460 is speed/density MFI not mass air SEFI. That should make it somewhat more compatible with the wiring already in your truck. there's nothing Mustang that's applicable. You'd still need a full sensor array and engine compartment wiring harness from a MFI 460, an upgraded fuel supply system, a PCM from a 460 and a lot of miscellaneous bits and pieces to hook it up. What tranny do you have and what one do you intend to run with the 460? That can be an issue as well.
