Question tweek V10

Have a 2001 F250- V10- keep it stock other than K&N. Taking a trip for 10 days towing a trailer (approx 5000lbs) - Looking for some little things I can do to keep the V10 happy during the 6 hour trek- I was going to change the oil over to synthetic and clean the K&N- any other suggestions? DO those aftermarket octane boosts do any good?

The answer your looking for is not in the octane rating of your fuel. Your truck runs better on 87 octane. The only way to run better on higher octane is to get an engine control chip or programmer. A Tranny cooler will help your truck. But aside from spending much cash the oil change and filter cleaning sounds like it would be sufficient. There is the zoodad fix you can try, it's when you cut a hole in the plastic barrier in front of your air intake. Attach a pipe to the air intake and run it to the hole you've cut to create a "ram air" effect. Make sure you put some kind of screen on the open end to stop bugs. Some people claim to get benefits from it.
