I have an 87 E-150 that has a really bad tire wear problem. The new front tires have worn very quickly on the inside tread. The rest of the tire tread looks as new but the inner tread on both tires is already gone in a couple thousand miles. What's up with this??
Hello, it sounds like the usual alignment problem. Too much negative camber and or worn front end parts. Have the front end checked or do it yourself and repair it and then get a good alignment. Remember too that good front shocks are really important to ford front ends especially if you are caring any kind of loads. The good shocks help keep the wheels on the ground, which can cause premature wear.
sounds like the camber or the kingpins to me also. take it to a reputable alignment center and they should be able to let you know where the problem is.
Thanks to all that responded to my question.
The alignment was way off. Apparently, the previous owner of the van replaced the king pins but never did the alignment. After the alignment and a couple new tires all is well.
