Does anyone have any experience with a programer for and Exp. 5.4 4x4 with towing?
My father is complaining about not being able to keep up to me at 65-70 towing his camper. If anyone can give me some feedback on their experience with programers even if they are not towing with them i would appreciate it.
I have the Superchip 1715 and love it, but don't do any towing. Dad may need new gears rather than a programmer, nonetheless, the superchips come with a 30-day money back guarantee so if dad doesn't like it, just send it back. Hard to beat that kind of deal. I have a feeling he'll keep it.
Thank you Buzzard.
I am sure that if he gets it he would keep it. He priced changing the gears from 3.55-3.73 at Ford front and rear....approx $1600. I think the chip or programer may give him the edge he needs. Thank you again. I hope someone has towed with one and can give some info with some weight behind the rig.
I had a Hypertech programmer in my 98 5.4 EB Expy along with a K&N FIPK and a Flowmaster catback exhaust. IMHO the programmer was not worth it. If and when I decide to much with my vehicles computers, no more Hypertech. You can get so-called flip chips with more than one program, like stock and modded, along with valet mode. If Dad goes with the FIPK and the Flowmaster he's gonna have his foot in it all the time 'cause it sounds pretty nice at 3 grand and above, sort of like a flashback to the late 60's or early 70's performance engines with 4bbl carbs and open air cleaners.
The problem with Hypertech is they only program at "open loop". In other words, near wide open throttle. Both Diablo and Superchips program at all throttle positions. We carry the Hypertech products as well and they are pretty primitive in comparison.
