Working on my broken temp gauge when I come across this: Temperature sender - Imgur. It appears the PO added a t pipe to have 2 temperature senders for the secondary gauge. Is this look like what it is? If so should I switch it back or does it not matter. Also, is that wire wrapped in coil the stock gauge wire? Or am I right in assuming the other one with a black right angle boot (not pictured) is the stock gauge wire.
If the temp sensor is not in the water flow it will not be accurate. Since the probes are above the water level they are probably measuring an air pocket instead of actual water temp. I do not remember whether that will give a higher or lower reading than actual temp
When I pulled the temp sender unit coolant came out, so I think that it is in the coolant. The end of the sender was blown so I put a new one in, hopefully that will fix it.
