This CARFAX is the most detailed that I've ever seen, which is a good thing. But does the history indicate a problem vehicle? Windshield replaced 3 times, transmission overhauled, water pump replaced at 12k miles? CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2009 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY
I see no problem there. A couple minor issues early on, but nothing major except the tranny overhaul. If it runs and drives well, I don't think I would worry about it. Everything else on there seems about normal.
I wouldn't worry about the windshield, probably just had rock chips or something. My wife's old Jeep GC had 3 windshield replacements in just a few months. First it was replaced due to a rock chip. The next day I was putting new wipers on and bumped the arm, which made it snap down with no blade on it. That left a nice big crack, so that was 2 replacements in just a few days. Wasn't too long after that it got another rock chip and was replaced again.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, the 3 windshields are probably just a case of bad luck. Did you happen to notice the number of times the transmission and differentials were flushed. Why would anyone do it that often?
It seems to me that the differentials and transfer case fluids were changed every 15,000 miles ? I am new to Ford but is that necessary or was this truck used in an environment where the axles and transfer case were under water frequently ?
Kinda sounds like they bout a ford service plan at initial purchase with all those regular services. Originally was a commercial use vehicle, big companies probably get extra service for the vehicles?
Well, it does say it was a commercial vehicle. Looks like they had it changed roughly about every 15K miles. Maybe it was constantly pulling a trailer, which I guess would be a good reason for frequent changes. Might also explain the tranny overhaul.

No, it's certainly not necessary to change them that often even with heavy use. However, many places will have that stuff done every X number of miles simply because that's how they've done it for the last 30 years.
I thought of the Ford Service contract also - but a good majority of the services were done by Valley Automotive which is not a Ford Dealership. Car fax just provides records - you have to evaluate the all the information available to you including a physical inspection of the vehicle, test drive and if possible determine what type of commercial service was the truck used for. Some commercial vehicles are very well taken care of and others are beat 1/2 to death.
I'd wonder if Valley Automotive just gets lazy and all the diffs and transfer case changes get put in automatically even if they don't happen. Or they are scamming the hell out of someone or the owner over serviced a bunch, I'd love to have the money they put into diff, transfer and tranny services for no reason. That had to be pushing $1K each time.
Other thing could be there was a drivetrain issue and they kept trying to fix it by changing fluids that much. As for the windshields I could easily replace one every year with all the rocks that get thrown into them, especially during winter.
Thanks for all the heads up comments and suggestions. Yes, the truck is rather basic but it fits my budget and yet addresses all of my needs. I too thought of the axles being in water, which might explain more frequent fluid changes. I'll take a close look at that before committing to a purchase. I actually liked seeing that the transmission was overhauled considering the mileage but I am still concerned about the other drive components if it was used a lot for towing. BTW, is there any way of telling how much towing a vehicle has undergone? I really don't like that the truck doesn't have carpeting but I suppose that could be added if necessary. Has installed carpet in an F250?

Pretty stripped own but has all the right options for a basic work truck.
Thanks for including a link to the window sticker. I noticed that this truck is equipped with an engine block heater. Why would a 5.4L engine have this? I thought block heaters were only used on diesels.
The truck is not a stripped down "work truck" it is an XLT and a few options that would indicate off road use, the Limited Slip axle, the all terrain tires, the skid plates. There are not a bad thing in and of themselves.
I suspect that there are double entries for much of the service, I just noticed that the service reported at the "Service Facility" on one day is reported the next day at Valley Automotive And Diesel, Inc. My SWAG is that the "Service Facility" sublet the work to Valley Automotive.
It's possible that you could call Valley Automotive ( 970-285-9217 ) and ask them about this truck. They might tell you yeah it was a great truck that the people took great care of and had all services done regularly, or they might tell you that it's a dog and to steer clear of it.
The second question I would have about this truck is why did the second owner only keep it 9 months?

Good point about the second owner only keeping the truck for 9 months. And another good suggestion about calling Valley Automotive.
