Yes, I realise that. I was referring to Ross' suggestion about a new fan blade.

Aussiecowboy I know some guys that run Evan's WC and they swear by the stuff. I plan to switch my vehicles over to it in the near future. If you do decide to run it, make sure to get all the coolant/water out of your vehicles before you add fill it.
That's great mate, exactly the kind of info I was chasing. I have found quite a few people on vintage car forums using it as well, the general opinion is that it's great, I'm certainly willing to give it a go.

Good luck driving your cars.

These early split head 6 engines didn't have the tube, if only the solution could be that easy!

Also, how about a better picture of the Jeep?
The one in the background? It's not actually a Jeep but a 1955 Austin Champ. It was Britians answer to the ****** Jeep, amazing little thing, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel independent double wishbone suspension, 5 forward speeds, 5 reverse speeds, fully waterproof Rolls Royce engine. It has a flip up snorkel on the font fender, once in the up position it will drive underwater, wading depth of 5 feet. It is not as agile off road as a Jeep but is far far far more comfortable. It cost 7 times as much a Land Rover to build which is why they didn't make many of them, it is hugely complicated and difficult to maintain. I'll get some photos up later when I get to my computer.

Now that's cool. Thanks for the pictures and info.
I'm not sure the driver could handle a wading depth of 5 feet though....

The go was to set the hand throttle and stand on the seat apparently.

Well this is very cool. I want one. Of course I say that for lots of these cool old vehicles.

Well to bring this back on topic. Wading like this can help keep your Pontiac engines cool.

Yeah but the flip up snorkel would ruin the lines of the Pontiacs!

The Champ never fails to put a big fat smile on my face. I live right on the edge of a big state forest, during the warmer months I'll take a beer or two and just go for a drive through the bush for an hour, magic.

This is my sister-in-law's collection of video snippets from our rally a couple of years back. I'm going up to WV in October for yet another rally. My brother's truck is the red one with black wooden rail bed. It was a brush fire truck for the town on Wendellville, so, it is dubbed "Wendell." This was a road rally, so, no terrifying slopes (it is West Virginia!), brutal forest floor or hood-deep mud. That's typically every other year. More info at P O W E R *W A G O N * Page

Now that's frustrating. Power Wagons are one of my favourite vehicles on earth and I'm at work where they block YouTube so I can't see it. I have an agreement to buy an original RHD 1957 PW, should be in my shed by the end of the year hopefully.

Yes, I doubt the Champ would cope with salt very well. A lot more room than the jeeps in them too, I'm 6'7" and can drive it just fine.

Aussie, If you was to stand on the seat ya could put a 3 foot extension on the snorkel. Are ya all that big down under? No wonder the Aussie girls don't like us Yanks.
