Haha, no I have to admit I've never tuned a vehicle. Not my thing, but they certainly are very effective on the 6.4L trucks. My '08 died young at 15,000 miles and I never got the chance to own it out of the warranty period.

Mine suffered a different demise: I let my wife drive it!

There are lots of folks who insist that removing the emissions equipment is the only way to get the engine to last for any real length of time. I don't agree with that, and I've seen lots of evidence that supports that. I don't need to have driven a tuned truck to know that a 600 HP truck is faster than a 350 HP one.
I didn't tune for power, I tried to bring that point across in my last post but I often don't word my thoughts correctly, I'm just an old wrench fool. When I asked about you ever driving a tuned 6.4 I was referring to the drivability of it. I know that stock they are very smooth and drivability is very good. Drive one tuned and deleted and that shines even more. Mine is like it is because I KNOW after years of working on motors that any fuel dilution is not good. I don't care that Ford says anything below a certain point is OK, I'm not on the boat with that. Fuel dilution is like having gravy for your mashed potato's that is so watery it makes your potato's past creamy, if you were served that at a restaurant you would be pissed.
I spent three months reading about dilution and draining my oil to get it under the full mark. I then did what I know was the right thing to do in my case, that's it, simple straight forward reason. I did my due dillagence and got on with life, all is good now, I'm happy and my truck is happy, all I need now is to win the lottery and the bank will be happy.

I've had a couple of trucks since then because I can't seem to make up my mind. Since then I've had a 2011 F350, 2000 Excursion, and now my current 2013 F150. It's no diesel but it does an amazing job in front of a 12,000 lb trailer.

Eh, mine had an atrocious turbo lag when it was stock that nearly got me killed a couple of times before I got used to it. Of course once I realized that I couldn't dart into traffic without time for the turbos to spool I liked it just fine! Trucks that suffer serious fuel dilution will certainly have issues over the long run, but not every truck makes oil. Mine never did, and I've seen some UOAs for plenty of trucks that don't get over 1 or 2% either. Of course in your shoes I think a delete makes sense if there's nothing else wrong.

I always get concerned that someone may delete their truck to solve fuel dilution only to discover it's a leaky fuel line causing it.

my problem is that I went from an 05 f250 gasser 5.4, decided I wanted something nicer so I went with an f150 lariat 4dr, and then 6 months later I missed my super duty so much that I went out and got my 6.4... I think I'm gonna be a superduty LIFER

Once you have a superduty it is hard to go back...but don't rule it out. That EB 150 is a sweet ride.

Turbo lag, I don't think I know what that is, I'm sure my truck has it but ??? Oil dilution really bothered me, I watched like a hawk>couldn't get away from it. 9 months tuned now, oil level doesn't move, I sleep much better. I personally have never had the skinny pedal fully depressed, sad when you think about it but this truck is truly something. If I feel the need to tear up some tires I get my 65 442 and clean the carbon out. Tires are much cheaper LOL and repairing it I could do in my sleep without a manual.

Well spoken, my last SD was a 01 F350 with a V10, I've test fitted a new F150, between the console and what feels like a smaller seat just ain't going to work with my frame, I'm not even sure I would like (comfort wise) the full length console in the new SD'S, long legs and a wide **** makes for fitment issues. LOL

ya the first thing I noticed going to a f150 is that my neighbors were much closer... the newer ones are better about the room inside the vehicle... but then you get that short box, unless you get the reg. size be, but I had a short bed plus a tool box.. I hated it.. my fishin poles couldn't even fit in the bed with out hangin' out the back on the tail gate... can't be having that... I'm just a superduty guy.. I'll sacrifice the fuel cost.. but really it's way better than my f150 was on fuel.. same goes for my buddy's 2010 f150.. I get way better milage.. but I will agree that they can sure pull a trailer for being a 1/2 ton truck...

Almost everyone says get a V10, you'll never make up the cost of maint between a gasser and a diesel. That's BS, I at times get triple what my V10 used to get, plus I like it!!! Oil burner in the blood now, I might be doomed.
