I recently swaped a 351m into my f150. It had a 351w that blew. I had to change the tranny to a big block c6 now spedo is off by 20km/hr. Do I have to change the whole cable or can I just change the drive gear in the trans. Also is there an overdrive trans that would fit behind a 351m?
The cable has nothing to do with the speedo calibration - only the gears in the trans tailhousing. They're ~$8 ea and you need the right DRIVE and DRIVEN gears (2 gears total).
What year is the truck?
Figuring out WHICH gears you need takes a LOT more info than you've provided:
Original rear ratio and tire size (AXLE code & tire size from door jamb sticker)
Current rear ratio and tire size
Current error at 100km/hr (your ACTUAL speed when the speedo shows 100)
My truck is an 83 f150. The engine was not available in this year. But I figue it is not much of a difference. I will find out the info you listed and post it
Thanks
