I am sure I'm not the only one but I get a ton of really HOT air coming from the vent under the center of the dash with the heater turned off. When I switch to defrost it goes away. Is there anyway to stop this? Other than having the defroster on all the time. I have the climate controls set to all the way cold and off. It feels like a hair dryer on the hottest setting blowing on my feet, it's fricking HOT!!
On a "cooler" note I'm getting an A/C installed next week. Found a factory kit online that includes all factory components and controls. I would install myself but no place to do it family summer road trips in the truck coming soon
That will help..no ac truck?wwow.don't see that much here.
you can do a vaccum operated one or a mechanical and get a generic choke cable and use that to operate it. install in rhe hose coming from the head iircc.

That's part of the reason I got the truck so cheap vinyl seats and rubber floors not a single luxery item in it. Lol. so basically the valve will stop the heater core from "working". Close the valve in the summer, open in the winter. Sounds easy enough.
The only thing I noticed better with my cold ac mod is that it stays cooler if its hot out and im in town traffic. Otherwise on the highway, it's pretty much the same.
my 'new truck' has a similar issue of 'always on heat.' I just roll down the windows for now and figure i'll get to fixing it later, but just this weekend I noticed that the white vacuum tube going to the actuator that is directly under the passenger side hood hinge has been chewed in half by mice. i'm guessing that is my problem (and maybe something similar for the OP), but not sure.
does anyone know:
1. is that actuator the 'blend door' actuator? I assume it is, as its just after the blower box, but I haven't consulted the manual yet.
2. does it default to 'floor heat' when it has no vacuum to it?
When a vaccume pump fails, the heater usually defaults to the defrost position. I know the white vaccume line you are talking about, but don't know where it runs to.
