Mike's Y Pipe...Wow!!!
I have a 2008 F-350 Superduty FORD, with the worsed exhaust I have ever seen on a truck. Why would Ford narrow down the exhaust to 1-inch diameter on an engine like a V-10? This I asked myself but then I acted upon the advice given me by MIke and low and behold, I thought I was driving another truck altogether. The rearend gears are 3.73's, I thought I might have to go to 4.10's but no need.
I was able to pull the heavy load on level ground while tranny was in Overdrive at 65mph, a surprise to me and I got 9 mpg doing so. On the hills I kicked it out of Overdrive and she would then shift to 2nd gear half way up a 7% grade doing 45mph. The Y-PIPE did the trick, this engine has 65,000 original miles on it and the truck. I did not need the Tune UP as this engine had plenty of power left. I seldom saw the Tech get over 3400-RPMS. However it did happen twice (3800rpms) on 8% grades and the truck still went up that grade at 40mph.
We recently pull our boat home and through those mountains of West Virgina, yeah 6, 7, 8% grades. Boat weighed 9500-lbs trailer weighed 2000 pounds. We could have never traveled the speed limit without this new Y-pipe I purchased from Mike and had welded up later. I picked up both more horsepower and torque. Thanks MIKE
