I disconected both hook ups and cleaned them. I charged it and put it back in, and I fired her up and backed away from the garage and she dies... but fired right back up, but the cab lights brighten and dim. Will a new battery take care of this or is a bigger problem trying to show it self?
I plan on redoing alot with this truck, what doesn't get me is that it ran fine a day ago

Did anything else change from a day ago? When do the lights brighten/dim? Did the truck only cut off the one time, or is it recurring? What prompted you to charge the battery and clean the connections?

nothing else really changed/ they dimmed when I a put my foot on the break and shifted into reverse/ then it cut off and fired back up and seemed to be fine/ My dad told me I should clean the connection and on are battery charger you can check the battery and it read low and so I hooked it up to the charger
You can usually take your battery to a parts house and they can test them. I would check your cables though, after a few decades they can get very brittle and weak. How's the alternator on the truck? do you know whether or not it's charging the battery correctly?

Did they dim as soon as you applied the brake, or when you shifted into reverse? Did they continue to stay dim after you shifted into reverse? I just don't see an alternator or battery issue resulting in spontaneous stalling, though. With a bad alternator or poor charging system connection, the battery should support the ignition system for a short time. A bad battery or battery connection would result in a no-crank or slow-crank symptom.
@devino when i appiled the break the went dim and never went back to as bright as they were and then dimmed off
That's the result of your idle speed being pulled down by the transmission being put in gear. It's possible that you have a vacuum leak or a blocked idle circuit.
