hi guys i am working on a 1990 ford f150 5.0 litre
and the little wire on the starter solenoid has no power on it when key off
or when its turned to run position wondering if the power source from that little wire on the solenoid comes from the ignition switch if anybody has a
wiring diagram for this would be great
Yes, the power to energize the starter relay does come from the ignition switch (Start position only), through the Neutral Safety Switch/MLPS then to the starter relay.
Below is a diagram for a Bronco without an E4OD transmission:

that is the way it is supposed to be. that little wire only has power to it when the key is turned to the start position to activate the solenoid to send power to the starter..
if you have a manual trans, put a jumper wire between the two red with light blue wires on the clutch switch.
if an auto trans, the jumper wire goes between the red with light blue and white with pink wires.
did you test the ignition switch/ ignition actuator yet?
when you jump it if it starts then you know its the nuetral safety switch the square actuator does move when the ignition switch is turned so i assume thats working fine thank you for the reply
