Is a DPF delete really worth it or not? What's the pros an cons? Also do you still have to use the DEF fluid?
The DPF serves a purpose in engine emission regulating...deleting it is not the best thing to do if you are required to smog test your vehicle.
Pro's to removal..no exhaust restriction or regeneration cycle = better performance
Con's to removal...reguires a tuner that will work with DPF delete and did i mention in some places its not legal?
DEF is a fluid injection that happens post DPF so technically you would still need to use it as it is operational but you could shut it down if you have a Tuner...but just remember it is also not the most legal.
MPG gains are not as impressive as the 6.4 ps but you will see some. Most delete for more power. The 6.7 dpf delete pipes also remove the scr cat ( which is what uses the DEF ), actually removing the tank is optional.
and maybe the +mpg is from removing the 800 lb gorilla under the truck they call a 'scr' muffler, etc
While I tuned all previous ones and did all that, guess I'm happy with the way the 13 performs pulling our 5er, so I've left it alone.... and under warranty (so far!)
