Bumper Time

Slow day at the shop resulted in us pulling out all the old the old metal and seeing what we can make as far as bumpers go

Hitch I bent pulling out a chevy got the sides chopped off and welded under the rad support, thank you body lift. I normally hate front hitches but since the body lift gave me the clearance to tuck it all the way back it sits perfect and double as a frame brace against soon to be winch strain

The winch plate is going to be welding to each frame rail and to the top of the hitch receiver, Im sure yall reconize the donor metal as the skid plate most of the ford trucks have under the transfer case. I seem to have a few of them

the bumper itself was a rear bumper off my buddies bronco that got taken off because he was rear ended real hard. nothing heat and a sledge hammer cant fix. we flipped it upside down moved brackets and made it more front bumper looking.

tacked on until winch goes in

painted and d-rig in the hitch

I need to get a winch and it will be real beastly. Considering a synthetic rope instead of wire cable. Anybody have any opinions?

back bumpers painted, i just need to weld on ford brackets and the d-rings

and I purchased some goodies to install

Pillar guages will probably be trans temp and oil pressure

I doubt the color will match so I will probably have to paint the visor got this for 5 bucks at a swap meet. I bought one for my last truck for 140$

and a cool random picture of what the block looks like during sunday BBQ

Been super busy but got some small stuff done, still building funds for all the james duff parts im buying for SAS

finally got front shaft together, paint is to see if it still taps the skid plate under flex, most likely gonna have to mod crossmember soon

attempted to color match the paint I think I nailed it

got to paint my visor, new fender for driver side(damaged it pretty bad when I was wheeling 36s on just 4 inch lift) and front apron

I am beyond done rebuilding this damn AOD, C6 and transfer case I pulled out of an 83 parts bronco

Well my 88 is still in progress of getting it running I haven't tested the C6 yet. But my dad's 86 F150 (in my sig) is a 4x4 AOD and it seems to do well but I don't heavy off road it much but when I do I love it, just mainly pull with that truck. All I know is I am glad I don't have the E4ODs to me they are a hassle.

really? thats suprising I have always LOVED e40d and would prefer that in any offroad/towrig/daily. Its a c6 with overdrive but electronic. Cant beat that. My e40d trucks were always strong, my aod's always failed(many many many times) as it is my truck chugs real bad in 3rd and cant even hit o/d with the tires/gears. With the solid axle gears will come as well.

I though E4ODs caused a lot of problems at least that's what I have been told. My buddy offroads his and he ended up swapping to a 5 speed manual. My dad's 86 I beat pretty bad and so does he but that AOD always takes it. I think my 88 has OD but not electronic. On my dad's 86 with the AOD it is running 3.55LS stock Ford 8.8 and Dana 44 IFS with a leveling kit and 31s and like I said it does well.

okay at the shop doing a couple things before hitting the trails, put my pillar guages up and didnt like them so ill stop being cheap and buy new guages, wired my cb, but still need to mount antenna, and off to the trails

So we hit one of our local trails with three trucks, mine f150, tyler with the big black ranger on 39s, and dave with a black silverado on 39s. Pretty unexciting trip till we got to a pit tyler got stuck in trying to be cocky in 2wd. Then trying it again going opposite way uphill in 4x4 got stuck again.

now since it was a bit of a hassle to go out the trail turn around and come back in, after being pulled up he decided to try and go up the side of the pit and that led to this wonderful rollover

everyone was okay, truck went rightside up in about ten minutes and drove away with nothing more than a dented fender and ego(rollbar saved the side of the truck)

and this is why we drive fullsizes, catch you guys later when i get some more work done on the rig
